Leeds Mental Wellbeing Service are following NHS England’s ‘Digital First’ guidance by offering most of our therapy either by telephone, online video conferencing or live online classes. Delivering therapy in this way is proven to be just as effective and comes with the added benefits of being more flexible and safer during Covid. If you have any concerns about your treatment being delivered online or via telephone then please contact us.
GUIDED SELF-HELP
Next steps: you have been placed on a waiting list and a member of our mental wellbeing team will be in touch with you when an appointment becomes available.
Guided self-help involves a trained mental health clinician supporting you to manage your symptoms using a CBT based approach and materials. We will help you to work through a self-help approach, over 4-8 weekly or fortnightly appointments of 4-8 sessions. If you don’t feel better after trying a self-help therapy, there may be other therapies you can try.
During guided self-help sessions, the clinician will work alongside you to help you understand and address your problem, and support you to make changes in your thinking and behaviours.
The waiting time for this treatment is approximately 6 months.
As a service, we are committed to adapting our services to meet the needs of our diverse client group. However, if you have any individual needs that will enable you to engage in these services – for example, if you need to speak to a therapist of a specific gender due to a traumatic experience, or if you have any cultural needs – please contact the service on 01138434388 or send us an email at lmws.queries@nhs.net. We will try to meet these needs wherever possible.
